Hesterman Applauded

Nine previous winners of the Desert Aires Barbershopper of the Year Award selected Bud Hesterman to be the 2008 recipient. Most conspicuous as the Chapter's premier Master-of-Ceremonies, Bud has labored for three years chairing the Annual Show Committee.

Bud began barbershopping in 1973 with the Phoenicians, competing with them to win two Society gold medals. In addition Bud received 5 medals for other finishes in the top 5 places.

In 1996 Bud transferred to the Desert Aires. "Since that time the Phoenicians have not medaled!" says Bud, with typical baritone humility.

Following the award, the 2008 Board of Directors was installed by District Vice-president Gordon Bergthold, 2006 Spirit of Phoenix BOTY. Gordie joined the Society in 1965, and gold-medated with the Phoenician chorus in 1976.
